Break off a leaf of aloe plant. Very good for sunburns

You can either use plain yogurt or aloe. They are both coolants…so it soothes your skin.

take some tea bags or strong iced tea and spray it or wipe it on yourself. It will immediately work
for super fast relief while preparing the tea you can just rub a wet tea bag on yourself

do you have an aloe plant? Cocoa butter? Any kind of lotion that doesnt have alcohol in it would work the best

aloe vera gel or the plant

vinegar will kill the burn, hurts like hell but stops skin irritation. Also try Corine lotion.

Aloe Vera is good. You can freeze it to make it cool for the skin.

Hop in a cold shower, but not so cold to give yourself a shock! Once you’re skins a little numbed off from the pain, rub hair conditioner on the burnt skin and let it sit for a few minutes. Then rinse off gently with cool water and blot your burnt skin dry. The conditioner seems to restore some moisture, and it will keep you from peeling as bad!

Trust me on this, I’m Irish… I burn taking out the garbage!

Home treatment includes:
cool showers or baths
avoid creams or lotions that can hold heat inside (oil based)
drink lots of fluids
motrin or tylenol for pain
see doctor if you have blistering
stay out of the sun
if you must go out, keep sunburned areas covered
you can use OTC preps designed specifically for sunburn (to numb the pain and remove redness such as Solarcaine or aloe gel)

Aloe Vera is a life saver. You can buy it at Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s, CVS Pharmacy, a dollar store, etc. You can get it in a bottle or buy an aloe vera plant. I take aspirin too. My source has a TON of stuff on there. You may have sun sickness, so it is possible that you’ll feel badly for a few days.

These answers are all good, PLUS, take two aspirin. Aspirin relieve inflammation. If you want an experts advice, Mayo Clinic has some good advice.

An oatmeal bath works wonders, also a cold tea bag is supposed to help

You are lucky to have weather that is warm enough to go to the beach at this time of year!

I have heard that tomatoes are good, the juice that is. Aparently you just cut one in half and rub it over the burn.

The best thing though is cold water as in the end it is a burn on the skin and cold water is the best thing for that apart from the medical type substances available

ms_priss July 18, 2009 at 11:30 pm

first, take a lot of water. you have to hydrate yourself so you can cool. avoid diuretics like coffee.
then, chill some cucumbers. cut these up and place them on the affected area. if you have an aloe vera plant, cut some and apply the jelly like substance on the affected area.
also, wear clothes of soft fabric so that affected skin will not get irritated.
and lastly, please, the next time, you go to the beach, do not toast yourself too much. it is not healthy.

believe it or not…..cold used tea bags! My Mother used them on me when I was a child in Ireland (and being the palest people on earth, we burned under the sun!) I have used them on my own kids and they in turn have used them on theirs too – try it, it’ll surprise you!

I know it may smell but I am a very fair skinned person and have found that if I put vinegar on a paper towel and gently put it on my sunburn that it helps with the pain and helps to cool it.
